One of my faves, possibly in my top 3, definitely in my top 5 favorite movies. I yelped a yelp that made several librarians look up from their encyclopedias and I grabbed it. To my delight, Sarah was a Harold & Maude Virgin; it's always fun being there for someone's first time.Usually, they either get it, love it and are totally inspired or they don't get it, hate it and are totally grossed out. My husband was one of those people who didn't get it...but I decided to love him anyway. Either way, it's enjoyable to watch either result, but it's a rush when I find a kindred spirit, someone who loves this quirky, dark comedy as much as I do. It makes me want to hold their hands and jump up and down. Sarah was pretty lukewarm about the movie but still--I got to watch it and fell in love all over again.
So tell me, are Harold & Maude Lover or Harold & Maude Hata?
(And if you've never seen it, I highly, highly recommend it.)

my sister jamie and her boyfriend dressed up as harold and maude for halloween. she said no one got who they were. sadly, i've never seen it. but i have a feeling i'd be one of those people who don't get it :)
I know I've seen it but I can't really remember it. We even have it on DVD and it doesn't ring any bells. I must have fallen asleep or something. Try Rubin & Ed if you are really in the mood for something out there.
Never. EVER... and I'm a little afraid of the cover to the dvd too!
