-The girls start school tomorrow and are very much still on Pacific Coast time, which is three hours behind our current Eastern Standard time position. Ouch.
-I never thought I'd say this but I am so excited to move to Las Vegas, that I can barely contain myself. I've come to learn that when it comes to location, sunshine and family is all I need to be happy and that freaky place has an abundance of both.
-Speaking of sunshine, I started taking Vitamin D supplements in hopes to thwart my raging S. A. D. If the supplements don't get me through this last winter here in the dark northeast, Zillow will.
-I am not making any official New Years resolutions this year. I'm pretty sure selling a house, moving across the country, buying a house, starting a business and getting it off the ground will be overwhelming enough. Not to mention still getting use to having four children and keeping them happy, healthy, well feed, clean-clothed, etc.
-The official purge of our home to get ready to sell and then move has begun. Most of our stuff is so junky, though, I'm totally embarrassed to give our stuff away to people I know. Everything is so old (1970's and not the cool 1970's) and broken (Ikea) and just bad looking (garage sales and dumpster dives) that I am having a really hard time asking people I know if they want our junk for free. I feel like I should be paying them for actually taking the crap off my hands and out of my house.
-This trip back home and to our future home was probably my favorite Christmas trip ever. Lots of tender and good things went down. Exciting things are happening for our family members.
-Juniper will only nap in her carseat in the car or in her swing. This worries and frustrates me. I've never had a kid that refuses to go to sleep (during the day) in her crib. Suggestions anyone?
-My baby weight is not shedding the way it usually does. This concerns me. I'm trying to approach it by focusing on health, mostly to set an example for my girls. I don't want them focusing on weight. I want them focused on health, and so I will too. Its going to be slow going and it's hard not to get discouraged.
-I walked around in what will probably be (haven't officially signed anything yet but a verbal acceptance has been made) Go's office. We will (assuming things go as planned) be sharing the office space with an existing physician and when its official, I'll expand. Even though Go's stressed out of his mind about starting up, I'm so excited for him. He's worked so incredibly hard, harder than anyone I know. I just keep thinking of that first appointment he'll have. It's a good thing I won't be there with him, otherwise I'd be blubbering all over the place. Awkward. Also, I can't wait to get my hands on the current waiting room of his office. It needs some TLC and I'm ready to give it some.
-Lately, I've been told by several strangers (three different times at the airport, twice while at the doctor's office/hospital, etc) the same sentence: "You have such a wonderful family." I find it a peculiar thing to say to someone you don't know. How do these people know my girls are wonderful by merely observing them for a couple of minutes? I don't know, but they always seem sincere and I've decided just really good judges of character.
-That is all.

I'm so happy for you Annie! My advice with Juniper is to let her sleep wherever she'll sleep and not worry about it too much. That way you can enjoy the fact that she's sleeping =0). Once she gets older and into a better routine you can move her to her crib and I bet it will be no problem. Love you! Happy New Year!
Dillon was one of those kids who would only sleep in his car seat or the swing. I used to just let him sleep wherever he would sleep, but I always tried him in the crib as well. Eventually he transitioned to the crib and turned out to be my best sleeper. There were many times I would just put him, in his car seat, in the crib. Good luck with everything!
love your blog!
i had a baby in september and was going through the same thing. i had stopped swaddling her because she slept well at night but in the last two weeks (so she's 3 months old now), i find that she goes right to sleep in my arms when swaddled, transfers easily to the crib, and sleeps longer because her little arms aren't waking her up. maybe you're already doing this but if not, worth a try.
good luck!
- I am freakishly excited for you and Go to move to this freaky place. Please promise you'll stay on the west side.
- this was my favorite reynolds Christmas too, despite newborn exhaustion.
- Rushton didnt sleep a wink in his crib during the day until 3 or 4 months, then quickly became the world's best napper all on his own. So don't freak out just yet.
- so you're going with the fleur de lis?
- that's all. Love to the Go Reynolds family.
Julie! The fluer de lis will be either painted over or covered up. Oh happy day!
Oh. And yes. We will be on the west side most def.
Although I have not seen you in person since you were about 10, I too want to say along with those strangers that you are a wonderful woman and have a wonderful family. I wish you the very best for all of your changes in the coming year.
About the baby: My step-daughter has a baby daughter who would wake up a lot in her sleep. She started sleeping better when they started putting the baby down in a Sleep SACK (not sure how to spell it) for both naps and bedtime. Perhaps the baby was cold. Perhaps the Sleep SACK covering signaled her THIS IS SLEEP TIME, not just hang out time.
About the new office: My brother is an eye Dr in Arizona. He and his wife recently renovated and moved into an office space. They have done a lot with advertising the new place on Facebook. If you want info about that, send me a private Facebook message and I'll link you to his page.
p.s. this is Christopher and Eric's Mom if you have multiple Carolyn friends. :)
I have been clearing out junk today and thinking the EXACT same thing. For a few minutes I pondered having a garage sale, and then I realized that I was completely crazy. I would seriously feel lucky if someone would carry the stuff out of my house for me.
Exciting times ahead!
Good luck with Juni :) Someday she'll grow out of it, hopefully before she's 18.
Offer your stuff on craig's list for free.
My friend's son 'sold' Tims ridiculous monster TV I never wanted and never liked that didn't even work anymore on craigs list. Price? $0.00 Yep. THey came and took it off my hands for nuttin'. I didn't have to pay the fee at the dump to dump it. Or bug a home teacher to haul it. It was bliss. Some 19 year old kid was going to put it in his room. His mother was with him and I kept hovering around her in fear that she would come to her senses and say that thing is not coming in our house but she never said it and I jumped up and down and up and down in my stocking feet in the garage as they pulled out of the driveway.
SO SATISFACTORY.
HIGHLY reccommend.
In fact it couldn't have been more satisfactory if they had given me 600 bucks. Not lying.
My 3rd was a non-sleeper. Nothing changed till I let him sleep on his tummy when he was 3 months old. Then it was long regular beautiful naps and sleeping through the night. Yes, tummy sleeping is frowned upon but it turned him into a happy baby...which in turn made me a happy mommy (instead of of the crabby, frustrated, grouch that I was before). If they have good head control and there is nothing in the crib with them then I'm cool with it. I've had 4 tummy sleepers.
Annie, I LOVE your blog. I think I tell you that all of the time but I do. You are entering the year that I just finished. New job, new baby, new city, sell house, SO CRAZY, but so exciting. You are going to love it there. I have a hard time believing that you aren't back to a size 0, but all I have to say about that is that with my five kiddos, it takes longer every time. I remember being a little nervous this time around with Luke because it was taking longer than I would have liked it to...anyway, you look beautiful and I am so glad that things are going so great for ya!
I've missed you and this post just made up for your absence. :)
